SWIFT

SwiftSemi-submersible heavy load vessel Swift (IMO:8113554, Port of Registry: Willemstad, Curacao) is a 181 meters long, 32 meters wide ship capable of transporting all kinds of deck loads. She has a free deck space of 126.60 x 31.70 meters and a maximum draught of 21.65 meters when submerged which provides more than 7 meters water above the main deck. The Swift is operated by Dockwise, The Netherlands. She was built in 1983 as the Dyvi Swift at Samsung Heavy Industries, Seoul.

The Swift will arrive this morning at the Calandkanaal, Rotterdam with the self elevating jack-up barge GMS Endeavour 6102 on board.

SEA ENERGY

The Sea Energy (IMO: 8902046, Port of Registry: Nekso, Denmark) is a self-propelled crane vessel equipped with 4 jack-up legs of 32 meters enabling her to carry out offshore crane operations with great precision and control. The vessel is 91.76 meters long and 21.6 meters wide. She has a maximum deck load of 1.5 to 2 tons per square meter and 1020 sq.m. of free deck space and is able to operate in water depths up to 24 meter. SWAN

SwanToday Ship of the Day is the semi-submersible heavy load vessel Swan (IMO: 8001000, Port of Registry: Willemstad, Dutch Antilles). The ship is 180.5 meters long, 32.3 meters wide and has a maximum draught when submerged of 21.6 meters. The Swan provides a deck space of 126.8 meters by 31.6 meters with a deck load of 16-20 tonnes/sq.m which ensures the vessel to carry heavy cargo up to 25,000 tons. She is equipped with 4 ballast pumps, electrically driven, with a total capacity of 2,800 cu.m/hr and 3 cargo pumps, also electrically driven, with a total capacity of 3,000 cu.m/hr. The Swan was built in 1977 as the Swan Arrow and was converted into her current state in 2003. She is currently operated by the Dutch based company Dockwise Shipping B.V.

The Swan will arrive this afternoon with the jack-up barge JB-115, which is capable in water depths up to ± 40 metre. The Swan will be located at the Calandkanaal.

NOBLE SCOTT MARKS

Noble Scott MarksThe Noble Scott Marks (IMO: 9521057, Port of Registry: Monrovia, Liberia) is a jackup rig operated by Noble Corporation. The rig is 70 x 76 meters in dimension and is able to operate in water depths up to 400 feet with legs of 546 feet. She can drill up to 30,000 ft. The rig was built in 2009 at Dalian Shipyard, Dalian China and was deployed in the North Sea for the last year.

The Noble Scott Marks is expected to arrive later this afternoon at the Calandkanaal, Rotterdam accompanied by the tugs Boulder, Tempest and Thorax. She will depart on the 24th of January on board the semi-submersible vessel Osprey with destination Oman.

NOBLE PIET VAN EDE

Noble Piet van EdeThe Noble Piet van Ede (IMO: 8752805, Port of Registry: Monrovia, Liberia) is a three-legged cantilever jack-up drilling unit of 55 meters long and 62 meters wide, rated for water depths up to 64 meters with a maximum drilling depth of 7,620 meter. The vessel is constructed to survive wave heights of 23 meters and wind speeds of 42 m/s. The rig was built in 1982 at CNIM, La Seine sur Mer, France and is operated by Noble Drilling Services.

The Noble Piet van Ede will arrive later tonight at Keppel Verolme Shipyard from the L15A area in the North Sea.

TARGET

TargetThe Target (IMO: 8617938, Port of Registry: Willemstad, Dutch Antilles) is a 217 meters long, 45 meters wide semi-submersible heavy load vessel built in 1990 as the tanker Jahre Target and converted to her current form in 2007 as Cosco Shipyard, Nantong, China. She has an unobstructed deck area measuring 44.5 m x 130 m. The vessel is designed to transport complex, high-value cargo, including semi-submersible and jack-up drilling units, as well as offshore structures. She is managed by Anglo-Eastern Ship Management and operated by Dockwise, The Netherlands.

The Target is scheduled to arrive later this afternoon at the Waalhaven, Rotterdam.

JB 115

The JB 115 (IMO: 8770730, Port of Registry: Nassau, Bahama's) is a four-legged multipurpose self-elevating unit (also called: Jack-up Barge), equipped with a 330 tonne crane and a helideck for operation of a Super Puma or equivalent. The rig is 55 meters long and 32 meters wide. She has a maximum leg length of 79 meters. She is capable of operation in a maximum water depth of 40 meters. The JB 115 was built in 2009 by Drydocks World SE Asia, Indonesia together with the JB 114 and provides accomodation to a maximum crew of 160 persons. The rig is operated by Jack-up Barge B.V., The Netherlands.

The JB 115 is expected to arrive later tonight at Keppel Verolme Shipyard under tow by the tug Brent.

MIGHTY SERVANT I

Mighty Servant IToday's Ship of the Day is the semi-submersible heavy load vessel Mighty Servant I (IMO: 8130875, Port of Registry: Willemstad, Dutch Antilles). The Mighty Servant I is 190 metres long, 50 metres wide and has a maximum draught when submerged of 26 metres. The vessel has a deck space of 50 x 150 metres on which she is able to carry the heaviest semi-submersible drilling units, harsh environment deepwater jack-up rigs and large floating production platforms like TLPs, FPUs and Spars with drafts up to 14 metres. The Mighty Servant I is powered by two 6,770 kW Wärtsilä 12V38A diesel generator sets, driving two propellers by four E-motors of 3,100 Kw each which give the vessel a maximum speed of 15 knots. The vessel has a maximum sailing range of 59 days and is operated by Dockwise Shipping, Breda, The Netherlands.

The Mighty Servant I will arrive this morning at the Holland Amerikakade, Rotterdam.

TRIUMPH

TriumphThe Triumph (IMO: 8902967, Port of Registry: Willemstad, Dutch Antilles) is a semi-submersible heavy lift vessel, delivered on December 16, 2008. The Triumph is one of six single-hull tankers converted into heavy lift vessels at the Cosco Guangdong Shipyard. The vessel, former name Marble, has an unobstructed deck area measuring 44.5 m x 130 m, and is designed for carrying semi-submersible and jack-up drilling units, as well as offshore structures. She is 217 meters long and 45 meters wide and has an overall deck space of 5,785 sqm. The ship is operated by Dockwise, The Netherlands and managed by Anglo-Eastern Ship management.

The Triumph will enter the port of Rotterdam this afternoon, carrying the drilling platform Maersk Resolve. She will berth in the Calandkanaal, Rotterdam.

TRANSPORTER (WITH NOBLE HANS DEUL)

TransporterThe last ship of this year is the Transporter (IMO: 8918930, Ex. Name: Front Sunda, Port of Registry: Willemstad, Dutch Antilles), a heavy lift vessel which is the first of a series of 6 vessels to be converted from single hull tankers into heavy lift vessels. The heavy transport vessel is designed to transport high-value and complex cargoes and has a cargo carrying capacity in excess of 35.000 tonnes. With an unobstructed deck area of 44.5 x 130 meter, the vessel is well suited to carry semi-submersible and jack-up drilling units as well as offshore structures (source: Dockwise). She is 217 meters long, 45 meters wide, has a maximum draught of 23 meters when submerged and a deadweight of over 54,000 tons. The vessel is propelled by one SPLIT MAN B&W 6S 70MC engine delivering 13,365 kW.
Noble Hans Deul
The Transporter will arrive this morning at the Calandkanaal, Rotterdam Europoort carrying the new-built drilling rig Noble Hans Deul which was built this year at Dalian Shipyard, China. She will be operating in the North Sea for Shell soon.

Looking back at this year we have seen a lot of great ships in the port of Rotterdam. Let me recall a few remarkable ships in Rotterdam this year:
  • the Zhen Hua 10, which stranded for about 4 days on the beach at Rotterdam
  • the Queen Elizabeth II on her last voyage before turned into a floating hotel at Dubai
  • and of course the SS Rotterdam which has returned to her hometown after a lifetime all around the globe.

GSF GALAXY III

GSF Galaxy IIIToday's SotD is the jack-up drilling rig GSF Galaxy III (IMO: 8764119, Port of Registry: Port Vila, Vanuatu). This 74 meter long, 76 meter wide rig is capable of working in a water depth up to 400 meter and can obtain a maximum drilling depth of 30,000 meter. She provides accomodation to a crew of 120. The rig is powered by four Wartsila 12V200 diesel engines driving four ABB 3,000 kva generators.

The GSF Galaxy III is expected to arrive later this evening, accompanied by the Belgium tug President Hubert.

ENSCO 100

Ensco 100Today we have the jack-up oil rig Ensco 100 (IMO: 8752661, Port of Registry: Monrovia, Liberia) featuring as the Ship of the Day. The Ensco 100 has a size of about 90 x 90 meters, stands on 3 legs of 150 meters long, has a deck space of 3,800 square meter and provides accomodation to a maximum crew of 107. She can operate at a maximum depth of about 100 meter. She can survive at sea with weather conditions with winds of up to 100 knots. The rig was built in 1987 by UIE, Clydebank, UK and was upgraded in 2000 to its current proportions. She is owned by ENSCO Offshore Internation, Dallas, USA.

The Ensco 100 is scheduled to arrive later this evening at the Maasvlakte Offshore Put, accompanied by the tugs 'De Da' and 'Fairmount Alpine'. She is currently being moved from waters near Nigeria to the North Sea.

GSF BRITANNIA

GSF BritanniaThe GSF Britannia (IMO: 8750560, Port of Registry: Aberdeen, Great Britain) is a jack-up drilling rig, built in 1968 by Norsmec Redcar, Great Britain as the Norsmec 1. She was designed by Breit Engineering. The rig is 68 m long and 61 m wide, has a crew capacity of 88 persons and 4 legs of about 97 metres long with which it can operated in water of up to 60 metres deep. She is equipped with 3 cranes of resprectively 45 tons, 27 tons and 16 tons lifting capacity. The rig is currently owned by GlobalSantaFe, Houston and operates in the Northsea.

The GSF Britannia is expected to arrive later this morning at Keppel Verolme Shipyard. She will be accompanied by the tugs Magnus, Bugsier 19 and Bugsier 21.

BLUE MARLIN

Blue MarlingThe Blue Marlin (IMO: 9186338, Port of Registry: Willemstad, Dutch Antilles) is a semi-submersible heavy transport vessel managed by Dockwise Shipping and built in 2000 by China Shipbuilding. She was designed to transport very large semi-submersible drilling rigs. She is equipped with 38 cabins to accomodate 60 people, a workout room, sauna and swimming facilities. She has a deadweight capacity of 76,000 tons, an unobstructed deck area of 11,227 m2 (63 m x 178,2 m). The vessel has a maximum speed of 13.3 kts in ballast condition, which is capable due to the three Wartsila diesels which deliver a capacity of 3850 kW each. For better manoeuvring with heavy cargo and in rough weather conditions the Blue Marlin is equipped with two retractable Azimuth thrusters of 4500 kW.

In January 2007, the Blue Marlin was employed to move two jack-up rigs, the Rowan Gorilla VI and the GlobalSantaFe Galaxy II, from Halifax Harbour to the North Sea. The Blue Marlin has arrived this morning at the Calandkanaal, Rotterdam.

TRANSSHELF

TransshelfThe Transshelf (IMO: 8512279, Port of Registry: Willemstad) is a semi-submersible heavy transport carrier owned by the Dutch company Dockwise that is specialised in heavy transports. The submersible deck space of the Transshelf has a size of 40 x 132 meters. The Transshelf was build in 1987, is 173 meters long, 40 meters wide and has a standard draught of 8.8 meters when sailing and a maximum draught of 21 meters when submerged. Due to its submersible features the Transshelf is mainly deployed for marine transportation of drilling rigs and offshore platform components. The Transshelf is sMaersk Guardiancheduled to arrive later today at the Maasvlakte carrying the jack-up drilling rig Maersk Guardian (IMO: 8415770, year of built: 1986) from Melbourne, Australia after a two month voyage.

WEST EPSILON

The West Epsilon (IMO: 9002570, Port of Registry: Panama) is a deepwater jack-up for unrestricted North Sea service up to 120 meter depth and capable of drilling up to 9,100 metres. It was built in 1993 by Keppel Fels, Singapore and modified in 1996, 1999, 2001 and 2002. The platform is 78 metres long, 90 metres wide and provides accomodation to a maximum of 115 persons.

The West Epsilon has drilled for Elf UK, Elf Norway, Statoil, TotalFinaElf Norway, Nam Netherlands and has recently drilled at the Norwegian Valhall North Flank for BP.

The West Epsilon is scheduled to arrive this afternoon at the Keppel Verolme terminal, Rotterdam and is towed by the tugs Bourbon Dolphin and Strilborg.
