PIETER SCHELTE

The Pieter Schelte (IMO: 9593505, Port of Registry: Panama) is one of the most remarkable ships currently sailing. The vessel, with the design of a 'U' is capable to move a drilling platform in one piece. The superstructure of the rig will be lifted onto the front deck using 16 hydraulic beams of 65 meters long while the jacket of the rig can be lifted onto the aft deck. The concept of this vessel was already formed in 1987 with an idea to combine to used VLCC's. In its current design the vessel was built from scratch and cost around 2.4 billion euro's. The vessel is 382 meters long and 124 meters wide. She can accomodate a crew of 571 and is managed by Allseas. More information can be found here.

The Pieter Schelte will arrive this afternoon at the Alexiahaven, Maasvlakte 2, Rotterdam. No tugs will be needed since the vessel is equipped with a state-of-the-art positioning system which keeps the vessel in place using her twelve thrusters with a combined power of 95 MW. The arrival in Rotterdam has been thouroghly simulated with wind speeds of 6 bft. The Pieter Schelte will stay in Rotterdam until april for outfitting the vessel with the 16 hydraulic beams built by the Italian company Cimolai.

CALAMITY JANE

The Calamity Jane is a versatile vessel optimised for pipeline trenching, the flooding, gauging and testing (FGT) of pipelines, offshore lifts and installation of subsea structures, survey activities and other operations in support of Allseas’ pipelaying vessels. In addition to supporting the Allseas fleet, Calamity Jane can operate as an independent trenching unit. For this purpose, she is equipped with Allseas’ mechanical trencher Digging Donald, which is fully remote controlled from the Calamity Jane and has a maximum depth of 350 meters. In addition to this other support services on dynamic positioning can be performed by the Calamity Jane, such as pipeline crossing preparation and mattress installation in deep water, all diverless.
The vessel is 151 meters long, 20 meters wide and can accomodate 72 persons. She is equipped with one fixed lifting frame for lifting up to a maximum of 200 tons and a general purpose crane for lifting up to 55 tons. The Calamity Jane is owned by the Swiss-based Allseas Group S.A. which is one of the major offshore pipelay and subsea construction companies in the world, operating specialised vessels - which were designed in-house.

The Calamity Jane is scheduled to enter the Port of Rotterdam this morning and will berth at the Broekman Waalhaven terminal.

The barge is intended for world-wide use, primarily in shallow water areas in support of Lorelay and Solitaire as well as independently contracted. Tog Mor is able to install pipelines with a diameter up to 60" O.D. She is moored on anchors, can work in a minimum water depth of approximately 4m (13') and is equipped with a 300 tonne crane. She was built in 1976 by Nederlandsche Dok & Scheepsbouw Mij., Amsterdam, The Netherlands, is 125 metres long and provides accomodation to 112 persons.

The Tog Mor will arrive this morning at the Port of Rotterdam in tow by tug Centaurus and will be berthed at the Waalhaven.
