OOSTERSCHELDE

The three-masted topsail schooner 'Oosterschelde' (IMO: 5347221, Port of Registry: Rotterdam) is the last remaining representative of the large fleet of schooners that sailed under the Dutch flag at the beginning of the 20th century. As the largest restored Dutch sailing ship the 'Oosterschelde' is a monument for Dutch shipbuilding and maritime navigation under sail. The vessel was built in the Netherlands in 1918 at the order of the Rotterdam shipping company H.A.A.S. As a freighter the ship could carry some hundred tons of cargo. The vessel was restored between 1990 and 1992 and since then it has made a voyage around the world and several other long voyages. Next to these voyages the vessel is also available for chartering.

The vessel is 50 metres long, 7.5 meters wide and has a mast heigth from the keel of 36 metres. She has a sail area of 891 square metres and is also equipped with a 6 cylinder Deutz, 360 pk engine.

The Oosterschelde has a maximum capacity of 120 passengers for daytrips (at sea: 36) and 24 on longer voyages. The accomodation exists of 8 two-person cabins and 2 four-person cabins. One board are 5 toilets and two showers.

The Oosterschelde arrived this afternoon at the Veerhaven, Rotterdam to visit the Wereldhavendagen.

EENDRACHT

The three masted schooner Eendracht (IMO: 8814275, Port of Registry: Rotterdam) is used to get anyone, especially young people, acquainted with the adventure of sailing at sea. The vessel was built in 1989 by Damen Shipyards, Gorinchem, is 59 metres long, 12 metres wide, has a maximum sail area of 1,206 m2 and a mast height of 41.7 metres. The vessel has a crew of 13 and a passenger capacity of 40 for trips of more than one day. She has 15 two-person cabins, 6 four-person cabins and one single person cabin.

The Eendracht will return this afternoon to her homeport Rotterdam after 6 months travelling. During this voyage the vessel visited several ports in the Caribbean, such as Surinam and Trinidad & Tobago. After three weeks at sea the vessel will berth this afternoon at the Holland Amerikakade. STAD AMSTERDAM

Stad AmsterdamThe Stad Amsterdam (IMO: 9185554, Port of Registry: Amsterdam) is a clipper in historical style built between 1997 and 2000 at the initiative of Randstad and the municipality of Amsterdam. The ship has 14 luxury cabins, a spacious dining room (for dinners and presentations) and an open-air bar. The Stad Amsterdam can be privately booked for business events, luxury cruises and adventurous sailing trips. The steel-hulled vessel is 78 meters long, 10 meters wide, has a sail surface of 2,200 m2 and can also be propelled by her 749 KW engine.

The Stad Amsterdam arrived this morning at the Holland Amerikakade from IJmuiden. The vessel should have sailed to Oostende with a visit to the UK, but due to bad weather, she will visit Rotterdam now.

LIBERTAD

LibertadThe Libertad (Port of Registry: Buenos Aires, Argentina) is a tall ship which serves as a training vessel in the Argentine Navy. She was built in the 1950s at the Rio Santiago shipyards near Buenos Aires, Argentina. In 1966 while crossing the Atlantic, she used all 28,500 square feet of her sails to set a new record of eight days and twelve hours. The Libertad is over 103 meters long, 14 meters wide, has three masts with a total sail area of 2,652 square metres and has a maximum complement of 24 officers, 187 crewmen, more than 150 cadets. The vessel has a maximum air draught of 56 metres. She is also equipped with four 47 mm cannons, 1891 model, which were transferred from the previous School Ship, Presidente Sarmiento, used as a salute battery. The vessel is frequently stopping in foreign ports and participating in worldwide gatherings of sailing ships.


The Libertad will arrive later this afternoon at Rotterdam after a stay at Amsterdam. She will take berth at the ECT Delta Terminal before sailing towards Dublin.

CHRISTIAN RADICH

Christian RadichThe Christian Radich (IMO: 5071729, Port of Registry: Oslo, Norway) is a sailing vessel of the type Windjammer. She was built in 1937 by Framnæs Mekaniske Verksted, Norway. This tall ship is 73 metres long overall, 9.7 metres wide and 37.7 metres high, provides accomodation for 88 passengers and has a sail area of 1360 sq.m., which consists of a total of 27 sails. This gives the vessel a maximum speed of 14 kts. From 1999 and on, the ship has been on the charter market as well as sailing with paying trainees to foreign ports on summer trips, participating in the Cutty Sark Tall Ships' Race and large sail events in various European ports. She is well known through the international release in 1958 of the Cinemiracle widescreen movie Windjammer.

The Christian Radich is scheduled to enter the port of Rotterdam this afternoon. She will berth at the Parkkade, Rotterdam.

The three masted schooner Eendracht (IMO: 8814275, Port of Registry: Rotterdam) is used to get anyone, especially young people, acquainted with the adventure of sailing at sea. The vessel was built in 1989 by Damen Shipyards, Gorinchem, is 59 metres long, 12 metres wide, has a maximum sail area of 1,206 m2 and a mast height of 41.7 metres. The vessel has a crew of 13 and a passenger capacity of 40 for trips of more than one day. She has 15 two-person cabins, 6 four-person cabins and one single person cabin.

The Eendracht is currently making short trips on the North Sea and is sailing in and out of port almost daily. Her next big journey will start at the end of June with destinations in Le Havre, Liverpool, Maloy, Bergen and Den Helder. More info can be found at the website of the Eendracht.

The Christian Radich (IMO: 5071729, Port of Registry: Oslo, Norway) is a sailing vessel of the type Windjammer. She was built in 1937 by Framnæs Mekaniske Verksted, Norway. This tall ship is 73 metres long overall, 9.7 metres wide and 37.7 metres high, has a sail area of 1360 sq.m., which consists of a total of 27 sails. This gives the vessel a maximum speed of 14 kts. The Cristian Radich is in use as a training vessel since 2005 and can be chartered for trips.

The Christian Radich has entered the port of Rotterdam this morning. She is currently berthed at the Parkkade, Rotterdam.
