MIGHTY SERVANT I

Today's Ship of the Day is the semi-submersible heavy load vessel Mighty Servant I (IMO: 8130875, Port of Registry: Willemstad, Dutch Antilles). The Mighty Servant I is 190 metres long, 50 metres wide and has a maximum draught when submerged of 26 metres. The vessel has a deck space of 50 x 150 metres on which she is able to carry the heaviest semi-submersible drilling units, harsh environment deepwater jack-up rigs and large floating production platforms like TLPs, FPUs and Spars with drafts up to 14 metres. The Mighty Servant I is powered by two 6,770 kW Wärtsilä 12V38A diesel generator sets, driving two propellers by four E-motors of 3,100 Kw each which give the vessel a maximum speed of 15 knots. The vessel has a maximum sailing range of 59 days and is operated by Dockwise Shipping, Breda, The Netherlands.

ZHEN HUA 29

The Zhen Hua 29 (IMO: 8700498, Port of Registry: Hong Kong) ia a 245 meters long, 42 meters wide semi-submersible heavy load vessel, designed for transporting oversized and ultra heavy floating and non-floating cargoes such as jack-up rigs, modules, cranes, port construction/port development cargoes and dredging equipments. The vessel was built in 1987 as a tanker and was converted to her current form in 2009. The Zhen Hua 29 is operated by ALP Marine Services, Netherlands, a company formed in 2010 by former staff members of Dutch heavylift specialist Fairmount Marine. ALP is marketing Zhen Hua 29, Zhen Hua 15, Zhen Hua 22 and Zhen Hua 28 for China’s Shanghai Zhen Hua Shipping Company, which had the ships modified for heavylift work in 2008-9. She is propelled by a 9,709 KW MAN B&W 6S60MC engine.

The Zhen Hua 29 will arrive this morning at buoy 81 at the Calandkanaal loaded with newbuildings for Damen shipyards which were loaded onto the vessel in China at the end of January.

BLUE MARLIN

The Blue Marlin (IMO: 9186338, Port of Registry: Willemstad, Dutch Antilles) is a semi-submersible heavy transport vessel managed by Dockwise Shipping and built in 2000 by China Shipbuilding. She was designed to transport very large semi-submersible drilling rigs. The vessel is equipped with 38 cabins to accomodate 60 people, a workout room, sauna and swimming facilities, has a deadweight capacity of 76,000 tons and an unobstructed deck area of 11,227 m2 (63 m x 178,2 m). The vessel has a maximum speed of 13.3 kts in ballast condition, which is capable due to the three Wartsila diesels which deliver a capacity of 3850 kW each. For better manoeuvring with heavy cargo and in rough weather conditions the Blue Marlin is equipped with two retractable Azimuth thrusters of 4500 kW.

The Blue Marlin will arrive this morning at the Elbehaven, Rotterdam with the last port of call at Las Palmas, Canary Islands.

TRANSSHELF

The Transshelf (IMO: 8512279, Port of Registry: Willemstad) is a semi-submersible heavy transport carrier operated by the Dutch company Dockwise that is specialised in heavy transports. The submersible deck space of the Transshelf has a size of 40 x 132 meters. The Transshelf was build in 1987, is 173 meters long, 40 meters wide and has a standard draught of 8.8 meters when sailing and a maximum draught of 21 meters when submerged. She is propelled by two Wärtsila Vasa 18V32 engines of 6,750 kW each. Due to its submersible features the Transshelf is mainly deployed for marine transportation of drilling rigs and offshore platform components.

TARGET

The Target (IMO: 8617938, Port of Registry: Willemstad, Dutch Antilles) is a 217 meters long, 45 meters wide semi-submersible heavy load vessel built in 1990 as the tanker Jahre Target and converted to her current form in 2007 at Cosco Shipyard, Nantong, China. She has an unobstructed deck area measuring 44.5 m x 130 m. The vessel is designed to transport complex, high-value cargo, including semi-submersible and jack-up drilling units, as well as offshore structures. She is managed by Anglo-Eastern Ship Management and operated by Dockwise, The Netherlands.

The Target arrived this morning at the offshore location Calandkanaal carrying the drilling rig Noble Regina Allen (IMO: 8771227, Port of Registry: Liberia, Monrovia).

ROLLDOCK SEA

Today we have the Rolldock Sea (IMO: 9404704, Port of Registry: Rotterdam) featuring as the Ship of the Day. The Rolldock Sea is a heavy load vessel that combines float-in/float-out, roll-on/roll-off and lift-on/lift-off capabilities with which the vessel serves a niche market. The ship is equipped with two cranes that is able to lift 700 tons in tandem. The RoRo capacity is 4000 tons where the vessel is capable of varying the height of the load deck in six different heights. Due to this capability the vessel is able to adapt to every quay in the world. The vessel was built at Larsen & Toubro, India and delivered in 2011. She is owned by Rolldock B.V., the Netherlands. HAWK

Today's Ship of the Day is the heavy lift, semi-submersible vessel Hawk (IMO: 8616556, Port of registry: Oslo, Norway). The Hawk was built in 1988 by Brodogradiliste Brodosplit Shipbuilding, former Yugoslavia as the tanker Jahre Transporter. She was converted into her current form in 2008. The vessel is 225 meters long, 45 meters wide, has a maximum operating draught of 10 meters and 23 meters when fully submerged. She has a free deck length of 157 meters and a free deck area of 6900 m2. The Hawk arrived this morning at the Calandkanaal, Rotterdam.

She then has a water depth above deck of 10 meters. The Black Marlin is mainly used for the transportation of rigs or large parts of offshore plants. The Black Marlin will enter the Port of Rotterdam from Singapore.

FJELL

The Fjell (IMO: 8766296, Port of Registry: Rotterdam) is a semi-submersible heavy transport vessel built in 2000 at Jiangsu Jinling Shipyard, China as the Boabarge 20. She was converted into her current form in 2008/2009 for her current owner Fairstar Heavy Transport. The vessel is 147 meters long and 36 meters wide with a summer draught of 6.4 meters. She has a deckspace of 119.80 x 36.00 metres and can be submerged 10 meters above deck. The Fjell is propelled by a Wärtsilä 8L32B3 engine delivering 3,840 kW giving the vessel a transit speed of 12.5 knots. The vessel is equipped with 4 generators, powering the electrical equipment during submerging and in port. She is equipped with two azimuthing thrusters of 4,500 kW and a bow thruster of 1,500 kW. The ballast system is remotely operated from the Bridge or the Engine Control Room. The total ballast pump capacity is 7,400 m3/hr.
