Today we have the pipelayer / construction vessel Seven Seas (IMO: 9384760, Port of Registry: Douglas, Isle of Man) featuring as the SotD. The Seven Seas was constructed in 2007 at Merwede Shipyard, Hardinxveld-Giessendam and was outfitted at Huisman-Itrec, Schiedam. She is operated by Subsea 7. The vessel is 153 metres long, 28 metres wide and has a gross tonnage of 18,250. She is equipped with an active heave compensated 400/350 t offshore crane, three auxiliary cranes, two workclass ROVs rated to 3000 metres and is fitted with a pipelay tower designed for flexlay, J-Lay and moonpool deployment operations. The vessel provides accomodation to a maximum of 120 persons and is fitted with an approved and certified
helideck suitable for Sikorsky S92 and Super Puma operations.

The Seven Seas will arrive this morning at Damen shipyard, Schiedam for maintenance work.

AUDACIA

Today's SotD is the pipelayer Audacia (IMO: 9305130, Port of Registry: Panama). The length of the Audacia including the stinger is 335 metres. She is 32 metres wide, is suited for installation of pipelines up to a diameter of 60 inches including coating, and is intended for operation in all water depths. The Audacia provides accomodation to a crew of 240. She was converted by Keppel Verolme, Rotterdam from a bulkcarrier to a an advanced offshore vessel in 2008. The vessel is owned by the Swiss-based Allseas Group S.A. which is one of the major offshore pipelay and subsea construction companies in the world.

The Audacia arrived last night at the Offshore Location Calandkanaal.

The Normand Cutter is a DP Class II Subsea Construction Vessel purpose built for today’s market place, owned by Solstad Offshore ASA. She was built in 2001 by Maritim Ltd, Gdansk, Poland and converted from a cable laying and repair vessel to its current form in 2001 by Ulstein Verft AS, Norway.
The vessel is equipped with a number of features for a wide range of offshore operations like:

• Lay rate of up to 1000 m/hr.

Today's Ship of the Day is the pipelaying vessel Solitaire (IMO: 7129049, Port of Registry: Panama). The Solitaire is the largest pipelay vessel in the world with a pipe carrying capacity of 22,000 t. The vessel is equipped with a full dynamic positioning system allowing the vessel to work most accurately in highly congested areas. The Solitaire is about 300 meters long (410 including the stinger), 40 meters wide and can accomodate up to 420 men. The Solitaire was built in 1972 as the bulk carrier Trentwood and was converted in 1999 to her current form. She is propelled by eight engines delivering a total of 51 Mw of power and is capable of installing more than 1,000 km of pipeline in a single year.

The Solitaire will arrive this morning at the Calandkanaal, Rotterdam.

TOG MOR

The Tog Mor (IMO: 8759152, Port of Registry: Panama) is a multi-purpose pipelay vessel, owned by the Swiss-based Allseas Group S.A. The barge is intended for world-wide use, primarily in shallow water areas in support of Lorelay and Solitaire as well as independently contracted. Tog Mor is able to install pipelines with a diameter up to 60" O.D. She is moored on anchors, can work in a minimum water depth of approximately 4m (13') and is equipped with a 300 tonne crane. She was built in 1976 by Nederlandsche Dok & Scheepsbouw Mij., Amsterdam, The Netherlands, is 125 metres long and provides accomodation to 112 persons.

The Tog Mor will arrive this morning at the Port of Rotterdam in tow by tug Centaurus and will be berthed at the Waalhaven.

The Calamity Jane is a support vessel for Allseas' mechanical subsea pipeline vessel Digging Donald, which is fully remote controlled from the Calamity Jane and has a maximum depth of 350 meters. In addition to trenching, other support services on dynamic positioning can be performed by the Calamity Jane, such as pipeline crossing preparation, mattress installation in deep water, surveys and pigging and testing of pipelines, all diverless.
The vessel is 151 meters long, 20 meters wide and can accomodate 72 persons. She is equipped with one fixed lifting frame for lifting up to a maximum of 200 tons and a general purpose crane for lifting up to 55 tons. The Calamity Jane is owned by the Swiss-based Allseas Group S.A. which is one of the major offshore pipelay and subsea construction companies in the world, operating specialised vessels - which were designed in-house.

The Calamity Jane is scheduled to enter the Port of Rotterdam this evening and will berth at Damen shipyard, Schiedam.

CASTORO SEI

The Castoro Sei (IMO: 8758603, Port of registry: Nassau, Bahama's) is a semi-submersible pipelay vessel with an overall length of 152 metres, a width of 70 metres and a operating draught of 7.8 up to 15.5 metres. She provides a safe, reliable and stable operating platform capable of laying subsea pipelines up to 60 inches in diameter, with additional facilities for offshore construction works and flotel capability. The semi-submersible hull construction with optional thruster assistance for enhanced position keeping enable operations to continue in adverse weather conditions. The Castoro Sei is equipped with 2 rotating gantry cranes 134 tonnes capacity and three 110 tonne pipe tensioners for pipelaying. She provides accomodation for 330 persons. The Castoro Sei is currently owned by Saipem, Italy and was built in 1978 by Fincatieri. More information can be found at the Saipem site.
