EDT PROTEA

The EDT Protea (IMO: 9019107, Port of Registry: Limassol, Cyprus) is a dynamically positioned diving support vessel, fully equipped to perform subsea construction activities, as well as to support inspection-, repair- and maintenance contracts for offshore and subsea structures. The vessel is fitted with a dedicated surface demand diving system and an inspection class ROV system. The systems set-up is optimized for working in the specific outhern North Sea conditions with high (bottom) currents and low visibility. The vessel is owned by Navibay shipping, and operated by EDT Offshore ltd. She is 91 metres long, 15 metres wide and has a gross tonnage of 3,746 and provides accomodation to a crew of 88 persons. She was built in 1991 by Flekkefjord Slip, Norway and converted to her current form in 2006 by Naval Shipyard, Poland.

The EDT Protea arrived last night at the Waalhaven, Rotterdam.

CALAMITY JANE

The Calamity Jane is a versatile vessel optimised for pipeline trenching, the flooding, gauging and testing (FGT) of pipelines, offshore lifts and installation of subsea structures, survey activities and other operations in support of Allseas’ pipelaying vessels. In addition to supporting the Allseas fleet, Calamity Jane can operate as an independent trenching unit. For this purpose, she is equipped with Allseas’ mechanical trencher Digging Donald, which is fully remote controlled from the Calamity Jane and has a maximum depth of 350 meters. In addition to this other support services on dynamic positioning can be performed by the Calamity Jane, such as pipeline crossing preparation and mattress installation in deep water, all diverless.
The vessel is 151 meters long, 20 meters wide and can accomodate 72 persons. She is equipped with one fixed lifting frame for lifting up to a maximum of 200 tons and a general purpose crane for lifting up to 55 tons. The Calamity Jane is owned by the Swiss-based Allseas Group S.A. which is one of the major offshore pipelay and subsea construction companies in the world, operating specialised vessels - which were designed in-house.

The Calamity Jane is scheduled to enter the Port of Rotterdam this morning and will berth at the Broekman Waalhaven terminal.

BAR PROTECTOR

The Bar Protector (IMO: 7814450, Port of Registry: Nassau, Bahama's) is a diving support vessel of 112 meters long, 20 meters wide and a maximum draught of 6.8 meters. She is propelled by a main engine of 4,500 kW and is equipped with two aft thrusters of 1,120 kW each and two bow thrusters of 1,120 kW each. The vessel has a free deck area of 800 sq.m. and has a main crane with a maximum capacity of 100 tonnes SWL. She can accomodate up to 109 people and is equipped with a diving system suitable for up to 12 divers working at various depths to a maximum of 300 m. The system comprises 4 decompression chambers, a 3 man 6.3 cu.m bell and an hyperbaric lifeboat. The vessel is owned and operated by Saipem S.p.A., Italy.

The Bar Protector will arrive this morning at the Damen, Schiedam.
