CSCL MERCURY

The CSCL Mercury(IMO: 9467275, Port of Registry: Hong Kong) is one of eight container carriers of its kind ordered by CSCL. The vessel is 366 meters long, 51 meters wide and has a teu capacity of 14,074 with a deadweight tonnage of 150,850. She was delivered in 2011 by Samsung Shipbuilding & Heavy Industries, Korea and is propelled by a 72,000 KW HSD Engine. She is deployed on China Shipping's AEX-7 loop connecting Asia and Europe. Some of the Mercury's sisters are: CSCL Mars, CSCL Uranus, CSCL Jupiter and CSCL Venus.

The CSCL Mercury is scheduled to arrive this afternoon at the Port of Rotterdam from Le Havre. She will take berth at the ECT Delta Terminal.

EUGEN MAERSK

Eugen MaerskThe Eugen Maersk (IMO: 9321550, Port of Registry: Randers, Denmark) is, together with her sisters (amongst others) 'Emma Maersk', 'Estelle Maersk', 'Evelyn Maersk' and 'Ebba Maersk', one of the larger containerships in dimensions, with a total teu capacity 11,000 teu (of which 1,000 forty foot reefer containers) according to the A.P. Moller - Maersk Group. A total capacity of 13,500 teu is also possible when containers are not fully loaded. This capacity is possible by stacking the containers in 22 rows wide. Maersk calculates the teu capacity with loaded containers. The vessel is 397 meters long, 56 meters wide, has a depth of 30 meters and a deadweigth of 156,907 tons. Amazingly, all this size and capacity requires a crew of only 13. The specially designed Wärtsilä diesel engine delivers 80,000 kW. A waste heat recovery system is installed to optimize the use of the energy produced, so that the engine can deliver up to 90,000 kW. The vessels in this series have established new standards for safety and environmental responsibility. The ship was delivered by Odense Steel Shipyard Ltd in 2008 as the seventh and last ship in Maersk's PS-class.
The Eugen Maersk arrived this morning at the APM terminal, Rotterdam from Suez.

CSCL ZEEBRUGGE

Today we have containership CSCL Zeebrugge (IMO: 9314234, Port of Registry: Hong Kong) featuring as the Ship of the Day. This ship is a 336 metres long, 46 metres wide containervessel with a deadweight tonnage of 108,000. The vessel has a teu capacity of 9,580 and 700 reefers and is propelled by a 93,120 BHP MAN B&W engine, which gives the vessel a maximum speed of 24.7 kts. The CSCL Zeebrugge was built in 2007 by Samsung Heavy Industries, Korea. She is operated by Seaspan ship management, Hong Kong.

The CSCL Long Beach arrived last night at the Euromax terminal from Felixstowe.

MAERSK ESSEN

The Maersk Essen (IMO: 9456783, Port of Registry: Majuro, Marshall Islands) was Maersk's answer to the new breed of containervessels, introduced by MSC, with the superstructure midships. The Maersk Essen was the first of nine newbuildings in this class, amongst which are the Maersk Edinburgh, Maersk Edmonton and Maersk Eindhoven. The vessel is 366 meters long and 48 meters wide and has a deadweight of 141,000 tonnes. She has a maximum capacity of 13,092 teu and is propelled by a Hyundai-Wärtsilä 12RT-flex 96C engine delivering a maximum power of 68,640 kW. The vessel is deployed in Maersk's AE-2 loop. More recently Maersk has also built 18,720 TEU ships in the Triple-E class, such as Maersk Mc-Kinney Møller.

The Maersk Essen will arrive later tonight at the APM Terminal, Rotterdam from Le Havre.

CMA CGM CORTE REAL

CMA CGM Corte RealToday we have the CMA CGM Corte Real (IMO: 9454400, Port of Registry: London) as the Ship of the Day. The Corte Real is currently one of the largests vessels in CMA CGM's fleet with a maximum teu capacity of 13,344. The vessel is 365 meters long and 51 meters wide. She was built in 2010 by Daewoo Heavy Industries, Korea. In compliance with CMA CGM’s environmental policy and like all new vessels of this type ordered by the Group, the CMA CGM Corte Real is equipped with a combination of innovative environmental features, including:

- An electronically controlled engine, reducing oil and fuel consumption thus enabling the vessel to be operated at eco-speed,
- Double-hull protected bunker tanks, in compliance with the MARPOL 12A regulation which will come into effect in August 2010
- The Fast Oil Recovery System, which enables bunkers to be rapidly recovered at any time, hence significantly limiting the environmental consequences should there be an incident at sea.

The Corte Real has seven sisterships, amongst which are the CMA CGM Christoph Colomb and CMA CGM Amerigo Vespucci. She is deployed in CMA CGM's FAL1 loop connecting China and North-Western Europe.

The CMA CGM Corte Real arrived this morning at the ECT Delta terminal, Rotterdam with the last port of call at Bremerhaven.

She is deployed on China Shipping's AEX-7 loop connecting Asia and Europe. Some of the Star's sisters are: CSCL Mars, CSCL Uranus, CSCL Jupiter and CSCL Venus.

She was delivered in october 2011 by Samsung Shipbuilding & Heavy Industries, Korea and is propelled by a 72,000 KW HSD Engine. She is deployed on China Shipping's AEX-7 loop connecting Asia and Europe. Some of the Mars's sisters are: CSCL Star, CSCL Jupiter and CSCL Venus.

The CSCL Mars will arrive this morning at the Port of Rotterdam from Suez. She will take berth at the Euromax Terminal.

Some of the Jupiter's sister are: CSCL Star, CSCL Mars and CSCL Venus.

The CSCL Jupiter is scheduled to arrive later this morning at the Port of Rotterdam from Hamburg. She will take berth at the Euromax Terminal.

HANJIN AFRICA

The Hanjin Africa (IMO: 9502910, Port of Registry: Douglas, Isle of Man) is one of nine super Post-Panamax vessels in the fleet of Hanjin Shipping. The vessel is 366.4 meters long, 48.2 meters wide, has a deadweight tonnage of 141,750 and a maximum teu capacity of 13,092. She was built in 2012 at Hyundai Heavy Industries, Korea and originally delivered under the name Rio Lilly to the management of Peter Doehle Schiffahrt, Germany.

The Hanjin Africa arrived this morning at the Euromax Terminal, Maasvlakte, Rotterdam with the last port of call at Hamburg. She is expected to depart in 36 hours.

This capacity is possible by stacking the containers in 22 rows wide. The vessel is 397 meters long, 56 meters wide, has a depth of 30 meters and a deadweight of 156,907 tons. Amazingly, all this size and capacity requires a crew of only 13. The specially designed Wärtsilä diesel engine delivers 80,000 kW. A waste heat recovery system is installed to optimise the use of the energy produced, so that the engine can deliver up to 90,000 kW. The vessels in this series have established new standards for safety and environmental responsibility. The ship was already the sixth in line of Maersk PS-class vessels.

The Elly Maersk is scheduled arrived this afternoon at the APM terminal, Rotterdam from the port of Suez. She will stay there for about 24 hours. The vessel will then set sail for Bremerhaven on the APM AE10 line. She will return within about 7 weeks to Rotterdam.

CMA CGM JULES VERNE

The CMA CGM Jules Verne (IMO: 9454450, Port of Registry: Marseille) is one of the most recent newbuildings in the fleet of CMA CGM. The vessel is 396 meters long, 54 meters wide and has a deadweight tonnage of 187,000. She has a maximum TEU capacity of 16,022 and was delivered in June 2013 by Daewoo Heavy Industries, Korea. Equipped with innovative instruments and the latest technology, the CMA CGM Jules Verne, like the CMA CGM Marco Polo and CMA CGM Alexander Von Humboldt, boasts impressive performances with 36g of CO2 per km/TEU emitted, that’s 12% less than vessels in the 13,800 TEU series. The vessel’s design has been specifically adapted for slow-steaming by fitting the WARTSILA 14 RT Flex 96 C-B main engine with an exhaust by-pass system to improve energy efficiency at low loads, and thereby reducing fuel consumption by around 1.5% at slow speeds.

The CMA CGM Jules Verne is scheduled to arrive later tonight at the ECT Delta terminal from Bremerhaven.

The Ebba Maersk will arrive this afternoon at the APM terminal, Rotterdam from Tanjung Pelepas, Malaysia. Tomorrow, the vessel will set sail for Bremerhaven on the APM AE1 line. She will return within about 2 weeks to Rotterdam on her return call this loop.

CMA CGM AMERIGO VESPUCCI

CMA CGM Amerigo VespucciToday's Ship of the Day is the CMA CGM Amerigo Vespucci (IMO: 9454395, Port of Registry: Marseille, France). The Amerigo Vespucci is one of the largest vessels in CMA CGM's fleet with a maximum teu capacity of 13,344. The vessel is 365 meters long and 51 meters wide. She was built in 2009 by Daewoo Heavy Industries, Korea. The vessel's design is comparable to the recently built MSC vessels (such as: MSC Beatrice) with the superstructure located midships. One can argue about the looks of this vessel, however the design ensures for better stability and lower trim for higher speed, when the ship is fully loaded. In compliance with CMA CGM’s environmental policy and like vessels of this type, the CMA CGM Amerigo Vespucci is equipped with a combination of innovative environmental features, including:

- An electronically controlled engine, reducing oil and fuel consumption thus enabling the vessel to be operated at eco-speed,

The Christophe Colomb is currently the largest vessel in CMA CGM's fleet with a maximum teu capacity of 13,344. The vessel is 365 meters long and 51 meters wide. She was built in 2009 by Daewoo Heavy Industries, Korea. The vessel's design is designed with the superstructure located midships. CMA CGM HYDRA

The CMA-CGM Hydra (IMO: 9356309, Port of Registry: London) is a 347 meters long, 45 meters wide containership with a maximum teu capacity of 10,960 and is equipped with 700 reefer points. The vessel is propelled by a Man B&W 12K98ME-C engine which gives the ship a maximum speed of 26 knots. She was delivered in april 2009 at Daewoo Heavy Industries, Korea and is deployed on CMA CGM's FAL3 loop between the Far East and Western Europe. The ship also has capacity for 8 passengers for cargo ship cruising.

The CMA CGM Hydra arrived this morning at the ECT Delta Terminal with the last port of call at Bremerhaven.
