JAZAN

JazanThe Jazan (IMO: 9349540, Port of Registry: Dammam, Saudi Arabia) is a 306 meters long, 40 meters wide containership with a maximum capacity of 6,919 TEU and a maximum operating speed of 25.5 knots. The vessel is owned and operated by United Arab Shipping Company and operates on its Asia-Europe Container Service (AEC1). The Jazan was built at Hyundai Heavy Industries, Korea and delivered at a naming ceremony held at Ulsan in Korea on Friday, 25th July, 2008. The vessel is the sixth A7 ship built by Hyundai Heavy industries Limited for UASC against an order for eight ships. Jazan is the name of one of the 13 provinces in the south west of Saudi Arabia, which is famous for producing tropical fruits and fishing. Jazan is also the name of the capital city of that province and is a major seaport on the Red Sea.

The Jazan is expected to arrive this evening at the ECT Delta Terminal, Rotterdam with the last port of call at Cagliari, Italy. The ship will depart within 36 hours with destination Thamesport.
