CMA CGM ALASKA & PANTONIO (COLLISION)

Last night outward bound containership Pantonio (IMO: 9440576, Port of Registry: Limassol) suffered a blackout and collided with, also outward bound, containership CMA CGM Alaska at the Maas entrance area. Vessels have both returned with tugboat assistance to Rotterdam to assess the damage. The CMA CGM Alaska is reported to have suffered a breach in her hull above the waterline. The Pantonio has a damaged bow.

The CMA CGM Alaska is 366 meters long and 48 meters wide and has a maximum TEU capacity of 12,562. The Pantonio is 129 meters long and 21 meters wide with a teu capacity of 690.

Both vessels are currently located at the Calandkanaal.
