CMA CGM CORTE REAL

CMA CGM Corte RealToday we have the CMA CGM Corte Real (IMO: 9454400, Port of Registry: London) as the Ship of the Day. The Corte Real is currently one of the largests vessels in CMA CGM's fleet with a maximum teu capacity of 13,344. The vessel is 365 meters long and 51 meters wide. She was built in 2010 by Daewoo Heavy Industries, Korea. In compliance with CMA CGM’s environmental policy and like all new vessels of this type ordered by the Group, the CMA CGM Corte Real is equipped with a combination of innovative environmental features, including:

- An electronically controlled engine, reducing oil and fuel consumption thus enabling the vessel to be operated at eco-speed,
- Double-hull protected bunker tanks, in compliance with the MARPOL 12A regulation which will come into effect in August 2010
- The Fast Oil Recovery System, which enables bunkers to be rapidly recovered at any time, hence significantly limiting the environmental consequences should there be an incident at sea.

The Corte Real has seven sisterships, amongst which are the CMA CGM Christoph Colomb and CMA CGM Amerigo Vespucci. She is deployed in CMA CGM's FAL1 loop connecting China and North-Western Europe.

The CMA CGM Corte Real arrived this morning at the ECT Delta terminal, Rotterdam with the last port of call at Bremerhaven.

FJORD

FjordToday we have the Fjord (IMO: 8636740, Port of Registry: Rotterdam) featuring as the Ship of the Day. The Fjord is a 159 metres long, 45.5 metres wide semi-submersible heavy transport vessel equipped with a ballast system with a total capacity of 7000m3 /hr. The ballast system is remotely controlled from a control room. The vessel is equipped with two independent remote sounding systems with interactive loading computers. The Fjord provides accomodation to a total crew of 33 persons. She is propelled by a Wärtsilä Vasa 8L32 providing a power of 3 x 3,840 kW. The Fjord has a free deck space of 132 by 45.5 metres and a deckload of 25 t/m2. She can be submerged to a maximum of 11 meters above deck.

The Fjord arrived this morning at the Waalhaven, Rotterdam from Suez with a 13,000 ton Production, Utilities & Quarters (PUQ) platform on board.

MAERSK ESSEN

The Maersk Essen (IMO: 9456783, Port of Registry: Majuro, Marshall Islands) was Maersk's answer to the new breed of containervessels, introduced by MSC, with the superstructure midships. The Maersk Essen was the first of nine newbuildings in this class, amongst which are the Maersk Edinburgh, Maersk Edmonton and Maersk Eindhoven. The vessel is 366 meters long and 48 meters wide and has a deadweight of 141,000 tonnes. She has a maximum capacity of 13,092 teu and is propelled by a Hyundai-Wärtsilä 12RT-flex 96C engine delivering a maximum power of 68,640 kW. The vessels are deployed in Maersk's AE-10 loop. More recently Maersk has also built 18,720 TEU ships in the Triple-E class, such as Maersk Mc-Kinney Møller.

The Maersk Essen arrived last night at the APM Terminal, Rotterdam from Le Havre.

HERMOD

HermodThe Hermod (IMO: 7710214, Port of Registry: Panama) is a 154 metres long, 86 metres wide, 42 metres high crane vessel capable of a tandem lift of 8,100 tons up to 39 metres in tandem. The vessel was built in 1978 and is owned by Heerema Marine Netherlands. The main hoist lifting height is 92 m above work deck. She has a gross tonnage of 73877, provides accomodation for 336 persons, has a helicopter deck which is suitable for a Sikorsky 61-N and is propelled by two electrically driven, controllable pitch propellers of 4,400 kW each aft and two electrically driven, retractable, controllable pitch thruster of 1,470 kW each forward. Power supply by seven diesel driven main generators of 2,765 kW each. The vessel has static and dynamic ballast systems both fully computer controlled. Ballast pump capacity 8,000 cubic meter/hour. Dynamic ballast water handling 500 t/sec.

The Hermod arrived this morning at the Calandkanaal, Rotterdam accompanied by the tug Bylgia. The Hermod will lay there next to her sister Thialf which arrived there last Friday.

THIALF

ThialfThe Thialf (IMO: 8757740, Port of Registry: Panama) is the largest deepwater construction vessel (DCV) in the fleet of owner Heerema Marine Contractors (also operating crane vessel Hermod), and is capable of a tandem lift of 14,200 t (15,600 short tons). The dual cranes provide for depth reach lowering capability as well as heavy lift capacity to set topsides. The cranes can reach a lifting height of 95 meters above workdeck. This multi-functional dynamic positioned DCV is tailored for the installation of foundations, moorings, SPARs, TLPs and integrated topsides, as well as pipelines and flowlines. The vessel has an overall length of 200 meters and is 89 meters wide. She provides accomodation to a crew of 736 and is equipped with a helicopter deck suitable for a Boeing Chinook 234. The Thialf has six 5,500 kW - 360 degrees azimuth thruster, provicding a total thrust of 400 tonnes. She has a transit speed of 7 knots accompanied by one tug.

The Thialf is expected to arrive this afternoon at the Calandkanaal on the high tide.
