ADRIAN MAERSK

Adrian Maersk The Adrian Maersk (IMO: 9260457, flag: Denmark) is a Series S type vessel of the A.P. Moller group. The vessel was built in 2004 by Odense Steel Shipyard, Denmark. The Adrian Maersk is 352 meters long, almost 43 meters wide and has a deadweight of 109.000 tons. She is capable of transporting about 9,000 teu and sails on the Asia-Europe-Asia route.

The Adrian Maersk has arrived this morning at the APM terminal, Rotterdam from Bremerhaven. The next destination is Algeciras, Spain.

BLUE MARLIN

Blue MarlingThe Blue Marlin (IMO: 9186338, Port of Registry: Willemstad, Dutch Antilles) is a semi-submersible heavy transport vessel managed by Dockwise Shipping and built in 2000 by China Shipbuilding. She was designed to transport very large semi-submersible drilling rigs. She is equipped with 38 cabins to accomodate 60 people, a workout room, sauna and swimming facilities. She has a deadweight capacity of 76,000 tons, an unobstructed deck area of 11,227 m2 (63 m x 178,2 m). The vessel has a maximum speed of 13.3 kts in ballast condition, which is capable due to the three Wartsila diesels which deliver a capacity of 3850 kW each. For better manoeuvring with heavy cargo and in rough weather conditions the Blue Marlin is equipped with two retractable Azimuth thrusters of 4500 kW.

In January 2007, the Blue Marlin was employed to move two jack-up rigs, the Rowan Gorilla VI and the GlobalSantaFe Galaxy II, from Halifax Harbour to the North Sea. The Blue Marlin has arrived this morning at the Calandkanaal, Rotterdam.

OTAPAN

Otapan
The Otapan (IMO: 6508561, Port of Registry: Coatzacoalcos, Mexico) is a tanker which became well-known in Holland in the period between 1999 and 2006 when it was chained up in Amsterdam because she contained asbestos. In August 2006 the ship even gained internation fame when it left for Turkey for demolition, but the Turkish authorities refused to allow the ship because the Dutch authorities had registered the ship to have a lower amount of asbestos than was really on board. After this the vessel returned to Amsterdam again.

The Otapan is a 168 metres long, 26 metres wide chemical tanker especially built for the transportating of melted sulfur. The vessel contained 5 tanks with a total capacity of 400,000 cubic feet which kept the sulfur fluid at a temperatur of 145 degrees Celsius. She was built in 1965 by Verolme Shipyard, Holland as the Harry C. Webb.

The Otapan is expected to arrive this evening at the Waalhaven, Rotterdam where the onboard asbestos will be removed.

ALBERT MAERSK

Albert Maersk The Albert Maersk (IMO:9260469, Port of Registry: Copenhagen) is a Post-Panamax, Series S, container vessel owned by A.P. Møller-Maersk. The vessel was built in 2004 by Odense Steel Shipyard, Denmark as the 25th in line of 29 almost identical ships. She is 352 metres long, 43 metres wide, has a maximum draught of 15 metres and a maximum official teu capacity of 6,600 but believed to carry a maximum of up to 10,000 teu. For whatever reason, Maersk is always vague about their teu capacities.

The Albert Maersk has arrived this morning at the APM terminal, Rotterdam from Bremerhaven. Her next port of call will be Algeciras. The Albert Maersk is scheduled to return to Rotterdam in two months.

EIDE TRANSPORTER

Eide Transporter
Today's SotD is the Eide Transporter (IMO: 8030130, Port of Registry: Nassau, Bahama's), which is a semi-submersible heavy dock type vessel, capable of transporting floating cargo with a draught of up to 3 metres and non-floating cargo like offshore modules, container cranes, container modules etc. The vessel is 180 metres long, 30 metres wide, has a maximum draught of 5.25 metres, a deck space of 3060 sq.m. and 3 ballast pumps with a capacity of 4000 m3/h. She is propelled by 2 SEMT PIELSTICK 6PC engines which deliver a total capacity of 7800 BHP.

The Eide Transporter is scheduled to arrive later today at the Calandkanaal, Rotterdam.

COSCO BEIJING

Cosco Beijing The Cosco Beijing (IMO: 9308508, Port of Registry: Piraeus) is one of the largest container vessels nowadays, together with its sisters: Cosco Hellas, Cosco Ningbo, Cosco Yantian and Cosco Guangzhou. Only the in 2005 and 2006 built Maersk S-class vessels (amongst which are the Emma Maersk, Estelle Maersk and Eleonora Maersk) and three in 2006 for CSCL built containervessels are larger. The vessel is 350 metres long, almost 43 metres wide, has a deadweight tonnage of 107,000 and a teu capacity of 9,450. The Cosco Beijing is currently sailing on the AE1-loop which connects Asia and Europe.

The Cosco Beijing has arrived this morning at the ECT Terminal, Rotterdam, with the last port of call at Suez. The vessel will leave tomorrow for Felixstowe, Hamburg and Antwerp before returning to the Far East.

MARIDOME

MaridomeThe Maridome (Flag: Great Britain) is a 54 metres long, 12 metres wide yacht, built in 1989 by Brooke Yachts, Great Britain. She was the largest private yacht to be built in Britain for over fifty years. The vessel is powered by two 2310KW CAT3516 diesels, has a maximum speed of 16.5 kts and a range of 5,000 miles. She has a crew of 13 and can accomodate 10 guests. The Maridome is available for chartering from $ 182,000 per week. For this price you will be able to make use of the many toys on board, i.e.:

HR.MS. HARLINGEN (M854)

Hr. Ms. Harlingen (M854)The Hr.Ms. Harlingen (M854) is a former Dutch minehunter built by Van der Giessen-de Noord in 1983. She is 51 metres long and 9 metres wide, has a maximum speed of 15 kts and a maximum range of 3,500 miles at 10 kts. The M854 is armed by one GIAT 20F-2 20mm gun, has a Thales DUBM 21B, hull mounted sonar. The most remarkable feature of the minehunters of the Alkmaar-class, to which the Harlingen belongs, is the lack of steel. The hull is made of polyester and the further contruction of the ship is made of aluminium. This because many seamines react to disturbances in the magnetic field. The vessel was decommisionned in 2003 and sold to Latvia.

The Hr.Ms. Harlingen has entered the Port of Rotterdam this morning.

CSCL LE HAVRE

CSCL Le HavreThe CSCL Le Havre (IMO: 9307243, Port of Registry: Limassol, Cyprus) is a 336 metres long, 46 metres wide container ship with a deadweight tonnage of 102,200. She has a teu capacity of 9,580 and 700 reefers. The CSCL Le Havre is propelled by a 93,120 BHP MAN B&W engine, which gives the vessel a maximum speed of 24.7 kts. She was built in 2006 by Samsung Heavy Industries, Korea, is managed by Danaos Shipping Co., Greece and is operated by Allocean Maritime, London.

The CSCL Le Havre is expected to arrive later this afternoon at the ECT terminal, Rotterdam with a last port of call at Le Havre.

EDWARD N

Edward NThe Edward N (IMO: 7404140, Port of Registry: Panama, Ex.name: Berge Athene) is a 313 metres long, 50 metres wide bulk carrier with a maximum draught of 20 metres and a deadweight tonnage of 225,000. She is characterised by her 2 Burmeister & Wain 6K 90GF engines which deliver 27284 kW at 110 RPM. The vessel was built in 1979 as the 'Konkar Theodoros' by Uljanik Shipyard, Croatia and is currently owned by General Ore Carrier Corporation VI Ltd., Panama and managed by Neu Seeschiffahrt GmbH, Hamburg, Germany.

The Edward N arrived later this evening at the EECV terminal from Tubarao, Brasil.

GRIETJE

Grietje
The Grietje (IMO: 9147708, Port of Registry: St. John's, Antigua & Barbuda) is a heavy lift ship, managed by Lühe Engineering, Germany. The vessel was built in 2000 by J.J. Sietas KG Schiffswerft, Hamburg, Germany, is 152 metres long and 21 metres wide, which give the vessel a deck space of 124 x 20.5 metres. The vessel has two cranes with a SWL of 320 metric tons and 1 crane with a SWL of 200 metric tons. Combined the cranes have a load capacity of upto 700 metric tons.

The Grietje will arrive later today at Verolme Shipyards, Rotterdam from Antwerp.
