NOORDAM

NoordamToday's Ship of the Day is Holland America Line's cruiseship Noordam (IMO: 9230115, Port of Registry: Rotterdam). The vessel was built in 2006 by Fincantieri Venice, Italy and is the newest member of HAL's renowned Vista-class ships. She embraces the latest industry and environmental technologies such as her use of a diesel-electric power plant for optimal energy efficiency and an Azipod propulsion system that maximizes manoeuvrability. The ms Noordam exemplifies the classic style of ocean travel with contemporary amenities and modern enhancements. The vessel is 285 meters long and 37 meters wide and provides accomodation to 1,918 passengers with 800 crew memebers. She has a maximum speed of 24 knots. She has a casino, several restaurants and bars, a fitness center, spa and entertainment facilities for everyone from 1 to 99 years old.

The Noordam arrived this morning at the Holland Amerikakade, Rotterdam from Bremerhaven.
